Todd Wolfe is an award-winning writer and director whose work spans feature films, music videos, commercial campaigns, digital media, and emerging storytelling platforms.
Growing up in central Pennsylvania, Wolfe's first creative ambition wasn't filmmaking—it was music. As an aspiring hip-hop artist, he spent years writing, recording, performing, and promoting independent projects before moving to Philadelphia in search of greater opportunities. There, he pursued a career in the music industry, eventually landing at Ruffhouse Records, where he worked alongside artists including the Fugees, Lauryn Hill, Cypress Hill, and others during a pivotal era in hip-hop's rise.
While working in music, Wolfe became immersed in Philadelphia's independent film community through artists, filmmakers, and collaborators who were experimenting with new forms of visual storytelling. What began as an interest in music videos and hip-hop-inspired films evolved into a broader passion for filmmaking. He began producing and directing music videos, learning the craft through hands-on experience and a growing network of creative collaborators.
That journey eventually led to Left/Right, an independent feature film co-directed with his brother Matthew Wolfe. The film won more than a dozen festival awards nationwide and launched a filmmaking career that would span feature films, digital media, commercial production, and emerging storytelling platforms.
Following Left/Right, Wolfe continued to write, direct, produce, and collaborate on independent film projects, working alongside talent including Mickey Rooney, Charles Dutton, and Jamie Hector. He later produced Streets, directed by longtime collaborator Jamal Hill and starring Meek Mill. Leveraging his music industry relationships, Wolfe helped secure the film's licensing deal with BET before it later reached a broader audience on Netflix.
During the rise of YouTube and social media, Wolfe spent several years producing, directing, and story-producing television-style digital programming for FroKnowsPhoto, helping build one of the platform's most successful photography channels. Working inside the emerging creator economy gave him a firsthand look at audience-building, online fame, and digital storytelling—experiences that would later inspire the feature film We Need To Talk.
With We Need To Talk, Wolfe brought the story of a video game influencer to life as writer, director, producer, and editor. Starring James Maslow, Emily Bett Rickards, Jonathan Fernandez, Christel Khalil, and Tray Chaney, the film was released across major streaming platforms.
At the same time, Wolfe's commercial career continued to expand, allowing him to hone his skills as a storyteller through commercial and branded content while continuing to pursue original narrative work.
Today, Wolfe continues to develop and produce creative work across commercial, branded, and narrative projects. His experience spans collaborations with major national brands, creator-driven content, and emerging technologies, reflecting a career spent adapting storytelling to new platforms and audiences.
Wolfe is currently developing Adultland, a feature film inspired by the small towns of central Pennsylvania and the people who leave, the people who stay, and the complicated space in between. He is also Executive Producing The Overdue Honor of Miss Bonawitz, a documentary directed by his brother Matthew Wolfe, while continuing to explore new storytelling tools through creator-driven and experimental projects.
